Explore two of Japan's most captivating cities on a full-day Kamakura and Yokohama trip from Tokyo. After pickup from your Tokyo hotel, travel southwest by coach to Kamakura, a picturesque seaside city nestled in forested hills on Sagami Bay renowned for its Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines and rich history. Next, continue to Yokohama, Japan's second largest city. See the Red Brick Warehouse, where early-20th century custom buildings now house stylish shops, and stroll in waterside Yamashita Park.
Following an early breakfast, travel to Mt Fuji, Japan’s most famous and instantly recognisable natural landmark. Learn about Mt Fuji’s importance to the nation from the guided commentary on route, and climb to Fuji’s 5th station, situated 7,550 feet above sea level. Marvel at the incredible views, and enjoy a ride on the Komagatake Ropeway cable car over the scenic Lake Ashi region. Then, board a boat for a wonderful lake cruise, enjoying stunning views over snow-capped Mt Fuji from the water. Have lunch independently, and then check in to your Lake Kawaguchi region hotel in time for dinner this evening.

This morning, enjoy a drive to Kyoto, Japan’s cultural and artistic centre, and the country’s capital for over 1,000 years. Stop on route to enjoy lunch independently, and on arrival, see two of Kyoto’s UNESCO-protected highlights: the exquisite Golden Pavilion and Nijo Castle, once home to Tokugawa shoguns. Finish with a visit to the 17th-century Kiyomizu Temple before enjoying the rest of the day at your leisure.
Enjoy today as you please, perhaps exploring more of Kyoto’s history and landmarks or dipping into its tempting restaurants and shops. Alternatively, choose to take one or both of our optional excursions. If you wish, join us to walk through the ethereal Sagano Bamboo Forest in Arashiyama and admire the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine this afternoon. This evening, you may want to attend a glittering Kyoto Cultural Show at the city’s Gion Corner theatre, followed by dinner at a local restaurant.
Depart Kyoto and travel to Osaka, Japan’s second biggest city. On arrival, enjoy a morning tour of this exciting metropolis, starting at Shinsaibashi, a popular retail district known as the ‘Champs-Elysees of the East’ for its one-of-a-kind stores. Continue to Kuromon Ichiba Market, a bustling market packed with culinary stalls, and enjoy lunch independently here before taking in spectacular bird’s-eve views of the city from the Floating Garden Observatory at the Umeda Sky Building.
